In addition the DSS investigates reports phoned into the Child Abuse Hotline. Westchester Public/Private Partnership For Aging Services, Inc.
The Westchester Public/Private Partnership Fund For Aging Services, Inc. is a unique partnership of government, business and voluntary service agencies. Established in 1991 by the Westchester County Office for the Aging, the Partnership is a not-for-profit organization. The goal of the Partnership is to enable senior citizens to remain independent and active members of their communities. To this end the Partnership works to develop resources such as senior transportation, health and wellness "how to" workshops and educational, cultural and entertainment activities. Through the establishment of such programs as the Senior Adult Day Care Coalition and the Senior Outreach to Seniors Program, the Partnership is able to reach literally thousands of seniors in the community. Volunteers and social work interns have brought programs and services to senior residences. Seniors in return are called upon to volunteer in programs such as "The Open Book" in which seniors themselves become a vital resource for the community by participating in reading programs with young children. Steven A. Schurkman, a member at Keane & Beane, is an active participant in the Partnership.
